Kathleen O’Dell, a certified Renewable Energy Professional and Carbon Reduction Manager, is a Principal in Deloitte Consulting’s Energy & Sustainability practice and the Federal Energy SMART Cities Lead. She has 20 years of global experience in distributed energy, energy resilience, energy efficiency, and energy sector reform in emerging markets.
Kathleen is author and presenter on various topics including smart cities, energy analytics, and the gender-energy nexus at conferences and universities including at CES; Economic Zones, Smart Cities, and New Urban Environments; World Energy Engineering Congress; and International Green Building Conference. She was a panelist on the Smart Cities Roundtable at the 2017 Global Public Sector Annual Summit.
Kathleen has managed and delivered projects for international assistance agencies in more than 15 countries around the world. She is currently leading a portfolio of energy reform programs that include piloting solutions to scaling up integration of large amounts of variable renewable energy into the electric grid in India and increasing reliable electricity supply, distributed resources, and access in eleven countries across Southern Africa.
Kathleen is Board Member and International Committee Chair of the Association of Energy Engineer’s Council on Women in Energy & Environmental Leadership, building momentum for the advancement of women in energy and environmental careers globally. She recently received the 2017 Emerging Game-Changer Award from TalentNomics for her work around women in energy.
