Mayor Mei is proud to be a elected to serve as Mayor in 2016. She was elected to the city council in 2014. On council she has been an active member with the League of California Cities, National League of cities, and the US Conference of Mayors.
Regionally currently she is the vice chair for both the Alameda County Goods Movement Committee and the 680 Sunol Express Lane Joint Powers Authority Committee. She is the East Bay Economic Development Representative for Fremont and as the Alameda County Mayors Conference Alternate commissioner. Mayor Mei is current board member of the Asian Pacific American Municipal Officials. She was also a cohort member of the 2017 Harvard Kennedy Schools Institute of Politics Program for Newly Elected Mayors
Mayor Mei has been a guest panelist and speaker at local conferences hosted by IEEE, SME, SVCTBA (Silicon Valley Chinese Technical Business Association) Smart Cities, Cleantech Open, and Silicon Valley Entrepreneurs Festival.
She is a proud contributor to the growing success of Fremont’s public education where she was elected twice as a School Board Trustee to the Fremont Unified School District serving from January 2008 to December 2014.
Mayor Mei embraces diverse recreational and cultural programs serving as a volunteer and leader supporting local scouting and sports programs. She is a board member/advisor of Citizens for Better Community, Music for Minors II, Drivers for Survivors, and South Bay Chinese Service Club. Mayor Mei also has been a dedicated supporter involved with community-focused groups encouraging civic engagement such as the Silicon Valley Leadership Group – Minority Women Leadership Day/Education Summit and American Association of University Women.
Mayor Mei was the President of the Asian Pacific Islander School Board Members Association (APISBMA) for California. During her tenure, Mayor Mei worked to ensure APISBMA’s active participation on California School Board Association’s Council of Presidents to strengthen their partnership with ethnic school board member associations statewide. Regionally in the Bay area, Mayor Mei was elected by surrounding local school districts to two terms as a Delegate Assembly member for Region 7 which represents Alameda and Contra Costa counties.
Mayor Mei has over 25 years in strategic planning and operations experience. Most recently she led a worldwide high technology trade Association representing industry leaders in developing best practices.
